The NGF covers the damages caused in Switzerland by unidentified or uninsured motor vehicles, trailers, bicycles and devices assimilated to vehicles. The NGF also intervenes in case of bankruptcy of the competent Swiss MTPL insurer and fulfils the tasks of the compensation body.

The NBI covers the damages caused by foreign motor vehicles in Switzerland. The NBI also fulfils the tasks of the information centre and coordinates the conclusion of frontier insurance policies for motor vehicles entering Switzerland.

The CoB is the European umbrella organisation to which all the national bureaux of insurance of the green card system are affiliated. The Swiss National Bureau of Insurance is a member of this association, whose head office is located in Brussels.
